Signal versus Blog Noise

Last week there was this news item, “Bear Eats Man at Beer Festival” immediately appears blog-worthy, yes?  That day the google blog search yielded approx. 350 hits and now the number has peaked to about 5,660.  Certainly the story invites obvious comment, but do bloggers really think that their readership doesn’t also browse CNN, or MSNBC, or other mainstream newspaper.  I guess thats what a lot of blogging is about – reacting to the news – and I’m doing it too.  But put a little thought into it.
